INFLUENCES:

These are some of my favorites: Biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, DJ Premier, Lil Jon, Swizz Beatz, DJ Infiniti, Klubbheads & Cosmic Gate, but just about anyone who has ever made a song I jam out to I consider them an influence

FAVORITE TRACK OF ALL TIME:

"Real Love" by Mary J. Blige. Its one of those songs I will never get sick of & it takes me back to the 90's when Puff Daddy was beginning to Mix R&B with Hip-Hop

MOST PROUD ACHIEVEMENT WITH DJING:

So far I would have to say doing a Mixtape with Lil Jon.  We released "The King of Crunk & The Remix Junkie" in March of 2011 & we are about to start on Volume 2

Q&A:

What are some pros & cons of being a dj here in Atlanta?

I love the fact that we are in a city which is a hotbed for music. It's great that we can hear a song first on 107.9 & it becomes something the rest of the world gets on later. As for the cons, I would have to say its the "freejays" who spin for next to nothing. This seems to be an issue in any city though & with the way technology is going its only going to get worse

What advice can you give to the new generation of upcoming djs?

To me, if you don't love music you are picking the wrong profession. We are in an industry that doesn't require any certification to do the job so it's real easy for someone with a MacBook & Serato to "act" like a DJ. But if you know your music & you can create your own lane this a profession that will pay your bills even though your parents may tell you to get a real job

What can people look forward to in the future from DJ Kontrol?
